John is a partner with the law firm of Ewart O'Dwyer. He has extensive municipal law experience, representing public and private clients before the Ontario Municipal Board and all levels of Court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal. As a former instructor with AMCTO, he is a frequent speaker at AMCTO Course Conferences and private legal education conferences. John received his B.A. from Trent University, M.A. from University of Waterloo and L.L.B. from Queens University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990. John is recognized by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Certified Specialist in Municipal Law - Local Government, as well as Land Use Planning and Development, having demonstrated expertise in the field of municipal law. His municipal practice consists primarily of acting for municipalities on such matters as governance, land-use planning, freedom of information and privacy issues, conflict of interest and tax sales.
